While working in the desert, I took many long walks, particularly up the windy dry wash that extended from behind my house, along the Pinto Mountains, and eventually into Joshua Tree National Park. The colors there are subtle, the plants forms delicate. "Field Notes" 1 and 2 are composites of my experiences and impressions, walking in the wind and sun, soaking in all of the small details.
